Doris Wells, age 90, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Miles City at the Holy Rosary Extended Care.
Doris Pauline Wells was born November 8, 1924 to Emil and Mabel (Jacobson) Gall, in Miles City, MT. She spent her childhood on the family farm near Rock Springs. Doris attended grade school at the Hillside Country School near Rock Springs, where she rode her horse to school daily. The family later moved to Miles City where she attended high school and graduated in 1943.
Doris met Hugh (Les) Wells while she was waiting tables in Miles City. They were married on April 2, 1946. After they married they worked at area ranches and started their family. Together they had eight children, Richard, Gary, Peggy, Ron, Zona, Leslie, Jim, and Linda.
Following the death of her husband, Les, in 1980, Doris moved to Miles City and lived with her parents where she took care of them. She also worked outside the home at Tempo and later at the Eagles Manor.
Doris enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and playing games, but the highlight of her life was raising and providing for her family. She loved family gatherings, but her favorites were Christmas and the 4th of July. She made sure that all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were gathered together for those holidays. Doris was also known to cook until the table was bowing under the weight of all the food, desserts, and candy she had prepared for the family get-togethers.
Doris is survived by her children, Richard (Kay) Wells, Gary Wells, Peggy (Harlan) Nelson, Ron (Susi) Wells, Zona (Tom) Reinhardt, Leslie Guesanburu (Jack Ross), Jim (Ann) Wells, and Linda Harwood, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 nieces (Lonna and Julie). She is preceded in death by her husband (Les), her parents (Emil and Mabel), her sister (Bev), son-in-law (George), daughter-in-law (Faye), and great-granddaughter (Abby).
Doris’ family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff of Holy Rosary Extended Care, as well as her dear friend, Jeannie Hart.
