Dorothy E. (Wennemar) Strobel, age 86, of Billings formerly of Terry passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Billings. She passed away from complications due to falling, we rejoice in know she is in pain no more.
Though our hearts are filled with great sorrow, we take comfort in knowing she has her vision and is once again with her loving husband David, son Lester and and twin sister Anna Stasia.
Dorothy was born August 23, 1928 on Bluewater Creek near Fromberg, Montana to Paul and Mary A. (Ommie) Wennemar. She graduated from Fromberg High School and received her teaching degree from Eastern Montana College. In 1949, she moved to Terry, Montana to begin her teaching career. While teaching in Terry, she met and fell in love with a young local farmer/baseball player named David Strobel. They were married June 11, 1951. Three children were born to this loving couple: Pamela (Dale Bilyeu) of Ballantine, MT; Mary Ellen of Fairbanks, Alaska her son David and Nicole Swanson and grandchildren: Nathan, Danny, and Ella of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter Lyn (Tyrel Johnson) also of Fairbanks, Alaska and Lester (1956-2007) his son Justin and grandchild Joshua and April Quinn (J.J.) grandchildren Kalieah, Kai; one surviving sister Pauline of California. Special thanks to nephew and nieces John Gerrells, Dot Teesdale, Stasi Weimer, and Tonya Davidson (who all spent many wonderful summers at the Strobel ranch) for all your love and support of your second mom.
Dorothy loved teaching and always had time to read a good book to anyone who would listen. As a teacher Dorothy touched the lives of many students and children. She taught many area country schools and from 1966 to 1974 she taught 4th grade in Wibaux while her children attended Wibaux Country High School. Dorothy was totally dedicated to her family and loved chickens, cooking and yard work.
