Edith Cunningham, age 92, of Broadus, MT passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Powder River Manor.
Edith was born on January 29, 1923 at Sundance, WY the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Bosworth) Roadifer. Edith grew up and attended school in Sundance where she graduated from High School. Shortly after high school Edith moved to Chicago, IL where she attended college and received her teaching degree. After school she moved back to the Hammond area and began teaching at the Crow Creek School. While teaching there she met Pat Cunningham and after courting for a short period of time the two were married on June 14, 1943 in Sundance, WY, at which time they made their home on Pocoseechee Creek. Edith continued to teach for two more years at the Dry Creek School before she stayed at home to homeschool their three children. In their spare time when not working on the ranch or tending to their children Edith and Pat loved to attend the local area country dances.
Together Edith and Pat raised their children on the ranch east of Powderville working side by side until they decided to move to Broadus where Edith and Pat opened their own antique shop. Edith was a very strong and determined woman. She once had to have open heart surgery and went in on Friday the 13th and was released on Monday and came back to work at the antique shop on Tuesday. In their retirement years Pat and Edith enjoyed traveling the four state area and finding country auctions where they were able to collect antiques for their store.
Edith was an avid antique collector. Her favorites being bird figurines and oil lamps, she also loved quilting and stitching and won numerous grand champions at the fair for her embroidering, she enjoyed having card parties with neighbors and, most of all she loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all the events they participated in.
Edith is survived by her husband, Pat Cunningham; three children, Dale (Sharon) Cunningham, Ken (JoAnn) and Sylvia (Darold) Zimmer; six grandchildren, Cody (Marcy) Cunningham, Casey (Jessie) Cunningham, T.J. (Heather) Cunningham, Kitty (Joe) Schmid, Adam (Lee) Zimmer and Cass (Amanda) Zimmer; great grandchildren, Cashlee, Cricket, Delani, Bailey, Garrett, Ashley, Cole, Jennie, Mckinzie, Jax, Saydee, Cooper and Madelyn; siblings, Ernie and Wayne Roadifer and Cynthia Garner. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her sibilings Leona Peters, Delos Roadifer, Irwin Roadifer, Eldon Roadifer, Frank Roadifer, Laura Williams and Howard Roadifer.

I was so shocked to read about Mrs. Cunningham in the paper on Monday. I had no idea when I waited on Ken and Dale in the Cashway on Saturday. I am so sorry to have not been able to extend my condolences in person then. I will always remember my trips to the Cunningham ranch to hunt and help my parents and Grandpa Lancaster deliver mail and we always got to visit with Mr. & Mrs. Cunningham. It was always a pleasure. I miss them in the antique store too. May God Bless and comfort you all at this time.
