On the evening of August 15, 2014, Ed passed away peacefully after a long battle with emphysema. Ed was being visited and comforted by family members at home. Ed was 69 years old.
Mr. Brown was born on October 13, 1944, in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the son of Arthur and Francis Brown.
Ed was a career naval officer who received several commendations. His service in the military took him around the world and he was very proud to have served. Ed was also an accomplished scuba diver and photographer during his travels in the Navy and it gave him great joy. After retirement he worked as a small aircraft mechanic and on several dairy farms. He was also a certified bovine breeder.
Ed was an avid and quite accomplished fisherman and hunter. His interests included raising tropical fish and finches, cultivating exotic orchids, beating everyone at backgammon or cribbage and horseback riding. Ed was also the recipient of the first annual Ed Brown award from GBI; we are excited to see who the second is. He was a people person and quite a storyteller that has woven the fabric of our hearts and he will be missed dearly.
Ed was preceded in death by, his parents, a daughter, three sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Darlene, sons Richard, William and Daniel, daughters Vivian, Lisa, Jeannette, Stephanie and Cassandra, grandsons Eric, Brendan and Kenny, granddaughters Alika, Nikki, Kristy, Jerika, Tiela, Taryn, Mackenzee and Leanna, brother David and sisters Helen, Chris and Tammy. Alas, we cannot leave out his beloved cat Stripes.
