In Memory Of

Evelyn Dinius, age 86, of Forsyth.

April 9, 1934 – September 9, 2020

Evelyn Mae Dinius was born to Mae McAdoo and Tabius Gilje in Dunn County, North Dakota on April 9, 1934.  Evelyn and her twin sister Esther were the oldest of 15 children.

After graduation, Evelyn married Jerome Dinius.  Jerry worked as a meat cutter in Dickinson, ND and Miles City, MT before settling in Forsyth to raise their children, Wanda Rae, Deborah Kay, Brenda Lee, Marsha Ann and Sandra Dee.

Evelyn worked at a variety of jobs during the years the girls were in School.  She was also a 4-H leader and a volunteer at Church and school events.  The Dinius home was always open for the friends of the girls.

Evelyn and Jerry were avid pinochle players.  Many an evening was spent playing cards in their kitchen with their friends Tiny Beck and Gerry Strong, laughing and having a grand time.  They also bowled and were a striking couple on the dance floor. Evelyn still holds State record high series in her division for bowling.

Evelyn dedicated her life to her family and anyone who needed a hand.  With each additional grandchild, she would assist with the older children and have the baby in her arms whenever possible.

Jerry passed away in February of 2005.  Evelyn maintained the family home, continuing the tradition of family get togethers until a brief stay in the hospital.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Jerry, daughters Sandy (Lynn) Fitterer and Marsha (Jay) Strang.  She is survived by her daughters Wanda (Dennis) Russell, Deborah (Leon) Riley and Brenda (Craig) Stellmach.   She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Evelyn, Mother to All, your love and kindness will be missed by many.

Dear Family of Evelyn, your mother/grandmother was a lovely lady. My husband and I visited with her one afternoon a few years ago and spent a long time talking family history. You are a special family. May she rest in peace.

We are sorry for the loss of your dear Grandmother. I know how special she was to all of you! We hope the memories that you have help to ease the pain you feel. I am writing a quote from a card I have that says what I feel “Every day that you go out into the word and live as well as you can is a tribute to your Grandmother and the happiness she wanted for you” With sincere sympathy, Gene and Anita Kurtz
