George C. Lund, age 95 of Miles City passed away on April 17, 2018 at Residential Living in Miles City.
George was born on March 24, 1923 on the family farm in Grand Forks, ND to Cornelius M. and Eleanore (Fargher) Lund.
In 1929 he moved to Montana with his family. When he was quite young, George contracted Polio. At 7 years old he traveled to the Shriners Hospital by train. While there he had several surgeries to repair his damaged leg. Although he had one leg shorter than the other, it never slowed him down.
During his early working years he was a jack of all trades. In November of 1948 George enlisted in the United States Army and served until January of 1949 where he was honorably discharged for his disability. In 1950 he moved to Miles City and managed the Montana Elevator.
In 1953 he married Lorraine George in Miles City. To this marriage was born three sons. George carried his marriage license with him wherever he went for 65 years and proudly showed it off.
In 1959 he started selling insurance for Mutual of Omaha and did so for over 20 years. In 1979 he started driving taxi cab and did that for 20 years, eventually retiring due to health reasons. George was a long time avid hunter and loved being outdoors. When he was about 84 he was afforded the chance to shoot a Buffalo. The highlight of his hunting passion. He never met a stranger and had friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Lorraine, son; Guy (Lori) Lund of Miles City, sister; Shirley Blunt, grandchildren Travis Lund, Chad Lund, Donika Shrauger, Brandi (Jeremy) Lang, David (Katie) Froehlich, Amanda (Manju) Jadamali, Cassie (Nick) Horob, Amber (Dustin) Hodgson, 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cornelius and Eleanore Lund, two infant sons, brothers John, Larry, Bob, Sister Noreen Smith and several nieces and nephews.
