Our beautiful mother, Georgia May Mentikov went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born, in Miles City, on April 12, 1931 to Welby (Lee) Fletcher and Helen May Moran Fletcher. She joined her brother Joseph L. and later her younger sister Marcia Leann Rudolph was born.
She attended schools in Miles City, and graduated from Custer High School in 1949.
While she was in high school she went to a country dance at Riverview, where she met a handsome rancher, Sergey (Sid) Mentikov. For their first date he would take her out on a date for steak at the local Chinese restaurant. After Georgia finished high school, they married on September 1, 1949, and moved to the Mentikov family ranch in Powderville. This was the beginning of their 69 year marriage, and daily morning racetrack rummy games. Seven children were born of this union: Sandra, Jeanie, Susanne, Merry, Mike, Mark and Paul.
When it came time for secondary school, for their children, Georgia moved to town. There she began working at the rest home, later she was hired to run the state liquor store, which she eventually bought; becoming one of the first women in Montana to independently own a liquor store. She enjoyed the people she met and was always willing to help others. In 2008 she sold the store to her daughter Merry and son-in-law Armando DeAnda.
Georgia was a wonderful wife and mother. She had time for each of her children and looked forward to their visits and telephone calls. She gave her time, unselfishly to her family.
Sid and Georgia were fortunate to be able to travel to Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxenberg, Thailand, Canada, Mexico, and many places in the United States. They both enjoyed Hawaii and visiting the many historic sights.
Georgia is survived by her children; Sandra (Wayne) Shelton, Jeanie Mentikov (Jim Guyer), Susanne Galbraith, Armando DeAnda, Mike Mentikov, Mark (Juliet Lucas), and Paul Mentikov.
Grandchildren, Nick (Jennifer) Shelton, Chris and Danielle Guyer, Lindsay and Derick Frost, Holly Mentikov, Kristine (Edwin) Orozco, Step-Granddaughter Nichole (Terry) DeAnda Van Cleave, and Toni Jo Mentikov, Matt Ortega, Lisa and Michael Mentikov. Great Grandchildren, Nick Wells, Hannah Shelton, Carter and Kendell Shelton, Vivienne and Hudson Van Cleave and Ezra Ortega.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Helen, husband Sid, siblings Marcia and Joseph, daughter Merry, son in law, Joel Galbraith, grandson Nathan Shelton, in laws Vassily and Helen Mentikov, Sonja and Richard Heller, John and Mary Williams,. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to the Custer County Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
Services will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Custer County Cemetery, after which there will be a luncheon at the Parlor.

To the Mention family,
I only knew Georgia thru Jeanie, but she was so accepting of me and a wonderful lady. She had a tremendous work ethic which she passed on to all her children, who all grew to be successful adults. She was a beacon in Miles City and everyone felt her loss when she passed. Her legacy lives on thru her children.
