Geraldine Rose Two Two Fisher, Ho’ȯhtȯhena’e Cane Woman, age 85, passed away peacefully, On October 30, 2023. She was born, August 13, 1938 to Stephan Two Two and Thelma Foote Two Two at their home along the Tongue River, in Ashland, Mt. Geraldine was baptized at the St. Labre Catholic Church on September 4, 1938. Her father was a member of the Oglala Sioux tribe something she was very proud of, her Sioux lineage.

Geraldine’s 53 years of employment began at the guild’s arts and crafts factory and then as a baker/cook for St. Labre school for 26 years. Any and everyone was welcomed at her table.
Geraldine was dependable and always ready to help in any way she could. She served many years as the Ashland Powwow Committee in various leadership roles, officially retiring from the committee in 2019. The annual Tekakwitha Conference was one of her devout passions in her life. The conference brought her to travel the many cities with her fellow parishioners. She would fundraise all year with her legendary baked goods so she could attend the conference.
Geraldine was blessed with a wealth of family that prospered to become World Champion Athletes, State Champions, Montana all-stars, Ultimate Warrior Champion, Tribal leaders, College graduates, and many amazing cooks. Geraldine was a steadfast supporter of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would travel to support them at their basketball, football, rodeo, powwow, volleyball, and softball games. She became a fan of the Lame Deer Morningstar and Colstrip Colts in support of her grandchildren as well. Geraldine was a lifelong St. Labre sports fan. She was a respected elder who was acknowledged by the St. Labre athletes during the announcement of the starting lineups. She was proud of each and every one of them.
Her warm presence and infectious laugh will be missed by many and her absent felt throughout Indian Country. May her faith, kind personality, and strong resiliency serve as an example for us to live by as we carry on in this life. One of Geraldine’s passions was bowling and going to Bingo.
