Gertrude A. (Gertie) Hinther, 88, passed away on March 23, 2023. She was born on August 5, 1934 to John H. and Mary (Koch) Hinther at Jordan, Montana. Gertie attended elementary and high school in Jordan graduating in 1954. She was confirmed into the Lutheran Church in Jordan on April 2, 1950 and transferred her membership to First Lutheran Church in Glasgow on March 14, 1976. Her professional career began at graduation. She worked in the clerk and recorder’s office in Jordan followed by work in the McCone County Courthouse and at the Glasgow Air Force Base. In June of 1981 she began working in the Valley County Courthouse where she continued until her retirement in November of 1994. She and her sister Hulda spent much time together after her retirement visiting, traveling, enjoying each other and doing what made them happy. Gertie moved into Nemont Manor in Glasgow and was in Glasgow care facilities until her death. Gertie was the youngest of 10 siblings. She had six brothers, Emanuel (1911-1988), Fred (1913-1980), William (1915-1973), August (1917-1995), Karl (1919-2005), Hilmer (1921-2006) and Alexander (1926 who died in infancy) and three sisters Leonora (1927-2017), Hulda (1925-2015), and Rosala (1928-1998). Gertie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her adoptive Espeland family of Glasgow. Gertrude’s final resting place is the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan.
