In the early morning of March 28, 2022, Greg passed away peacefully at the Glendive Medical Center with his wife by his side. Greg was 78 years old.
Greg was born in 1943 in Oklahoma City to James “Jim” and Frances Pounds. He was the oldest of 6 children.
Greg was a mischievous child. He often told tales of the adventures he and his brothers had growing up in Oklahoma City. As a young man he was athletic and enjoyed wrestling, boxing, football and other sports. From 1968 through 1970 Greg served his country in the Army Rangers. He also attended Oklahoma State and remained an avid fan for life.
He worked various different jobs, including as a landman in Oklahoma. He later moved to Idaho, Arizona, and Montana working as a long-haul truck driver. Greg married Jennifer Pounds and from this union, his daughter Portia was born. Greg later married Karen Roberts Pounds, gaining two stepdaughters, Elizabeth and Erica. Greg and Karen celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary shortly before his passing.
Greg was an exuberant story teller, often engaging everyone in the room, even when the listener couldn’t understand his Oklahoma accent. He had a lifelong love affair with cars, especially anything fast, expensive, or related to Porsches. Greg was a jokester who loved to harass everyone. In his retirement, Greg enjoyed spending time at the Miles City VFW, watching old westerns, teasing his son-in-law’s, and playing with his young grandson Evan.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents James and Frances Pounds; and an infant daughter.
Greg is survived by his loving wife Karen Roberts Pounds; daughter Portia Pounds; stepdaughters Elizabeth (Matt) Roberts, Erica (Dave) Brown; siblings Dick (Carolyn), Larry (Char), Phil (Rea), Diane, and Ron; and his grandchildren Char, Serenity, Lane, Liam, Evan, and Troy.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at the VFW- Miles City.
