We are sad to announce the passing of Harley Lee Saddler of San Antonio Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2024, at the age of 94. Harley passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a short battle with cancer.
Harley grew up in Hathaway, Montana, where he learned how to ride horses at the age of 5 and worked on various ranches until he served in the Army in 1953 for 2 years. He married the love of his life Hazel Wilson in 1955. They were inseparable and ranched together their entire life.
Harley and his wife Hazel enjoyed travelling and spent many years going to Arizona with their RV, where they met with friends from all over the U.S. and Canada and each year made new friends. Harley was best known for his story telling and for the love of ranch life with his many horses.
Harley lived in Dawson Creek, British Columbia with his wife and 2 daughters where he ranched and farmed for 16 years. Harley enjoyed breaking registered quarter horses, and at one time had more than 80 horses on the ranch. He sold the ranch and moved back to Miles City, Montana to ranch until he moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2022 to be closer to his daughter and family.
Harley is survived by his wife Hazel, daughter Arla Rae Nurkowski and her husband Nathaniel, grandchildren Chad and Chantel Nurkowski, Cory Martinez, Satabra Meredith and her husband Bo. Great grandchildren Jobie and Cleota Meredith. Preceded in death are his daughter Junerose Saddler, parents, Ray and Mabel Saddler and brother Harold Saddler.
