Heather Rowland Bird, age 46, of Oklahoma formerly of Lame Deer

Heather Marie Bird (Rowland), Mo’eh’evae, “Magpie Woman”, age 46, of Oklahoma formerly of Lame Deer passed away at Northwest Texas Health Service in Amarillo, Texas on December 13, 2023. She was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on November 19, 1977, to Late Larena Rowland and Darius “Ted” Rowland.

Heather grew up in Pennsylvania, Kansas, Arkansas and eventually made home in Montana. She graduated high school in Busby in 1996. Heather worked as a produce manager at the IGA in Lame Deer while attending Dull Knife College. She enjoyed helping and being involved with the elders and worked at an independent living center in Billings, and while living in Oklahoma, she helped cook and care for the elderly there.

Heather was very social and enjoyed going to Rodeos, Powwows, Handgames and loved watching football. Her favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers and the Oklahoma Sooners.

In 2008, Heather met Richard Bird in Lame Deer and they later married in August of 2009 at the Cheyenne Arapaho Courthouse in Oklahoma. Her religion was very important to her, Heather and Richard attended the Indian Baptist Church in Clinton, Oklahoma called The Edge. Heather had three boys, Kyler Johns, Todd Johns, and Ben Rowland; stepdaughter, Kaneisha Bird; stepsons, Ezra Bird and Jamaul Bird.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Bird; children, Kyler, Todd, Ben, Kaneisha; grandchildren, Catalina Bird Lopez and Malachi Bird Lopez; mother-in-law, Elaine Bird; niece, Aubryana Bird; siblings, Regina (Calvin), Benjamin (Dorcella), Claude, Claudia (John), Monice (Chuck); sister-in-law, Rosemary Armendariz; cousin, Lonnie Littlebird; special friend, Margaret Behan; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Heather is preceded in death by her parents, Larena and Darius Rowland; stepsons, Ezra and Jamaul Bird; sister, Relanda; sister-in-law, Carol Ruth Standingwater; nieces and nephews, Marika, Brookes, and Romeo.

Our family is very large, we are sorry if we forgot to mention you in our time of grief. The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma as well as the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas for their care of Heather.
