Ida L. Nybo, age 86, of Miles City passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Cottonwood Care Home in Miles City.
Ida L. Nybo, the 2nd born of Chris & Clara Stathamin-Fredricksen, was born January 16, 1929 in Ainsworth, NE. Together with her family; brothers Doug & Donald, and sisters Helen & Patsy they moved to Miles City, MT in 1948.
Although Ida was raised in town, she fell in love with a strong cowboy; Ralph Nybo. They married in 1951 and spent their lives living happily on the Nybo family ranch. She quickly became a true ranch woman who worked hard and enjoyed all aspects of ranching. She was proud of their registered Polled Herefords but her passion was racing their quarter horses. Over many successful years of racing they proudly decorated their mantle with trophies won around the State.
Ida enjoyed bowling, selling Mary Kay, keeping up on the latest fashions, but mostly she enjoyed time spent with her friends and family. Ida was a dedicated wife, enabling Ralph to remain at home for many years after suffering a stroke.
She is survived by her brother Donald, many nieces and nephews, and “my-boy Bryan”.
A celebration of Ida’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 13, 2015 at the Parlor, 1806 Mains Street with a luncheon to follow. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wake Up and Lace Up.

Ida was such a wonderful lady! When I was young our family used to go to their ranch and visit. Ida was a great cook and loved us like family. They let me spend a week with them when I was only 5 or so. Ralph had me steer his truck in the field while he threw bales off the back for the cattle. Their place was always full of adventure for me.

Ida had a way of making whoever stopped by feel at home. After Ralph got his stroke, she kept everything together and running while smiling all the time. She was strong minded and incredibly ladylike at the same time and she and Ralph together were an incredible couple that everyone loved to go visit. We will miss Ida as we miss Ralph but, I’m glad she and Ralph are together again. It was an honor to be a small part of their world.

The memories we have of my Aunt and Uncle are truly priceless. It gave us three girls a chance to play cowgirls with a lifetime of memories. Knowing she is now with our grandparents, Uncle Ralph, my mom (Helen), Aunt Pat and Uncle Doug brings enormous comfort to a heavy heart. Heaven has welcomed another redhead with open arms. May the laughter never end.

Our family will surely miss Aunt Ida and Uncle Ralph. We always loved our Montana trips and loved being out at the ranch. What a special place and special life.
My mom, Patsy, truly loved her sister, Ida, as she loved Helen. They are all reunited and most surely spending a lot of time laughing and if you can have nice smelling lotion, candles and makeup in heaven, they have all of that around them too!
We nieces and nephews were surely blessed to have Aunt and Ida in our lives. We will miss them.

Ralph and Ida were our nearest neighbors in the Pine Hills. I remember sitting in her kitchen at a little shelf, eating an orange, marshmallow sour cream salad during a branding – I didn’t think I liked sour cream, but Ida talked me into trying it and I’ve loved it ever since. After we moved closer to town, every time I saw them they were so friendly. Enjoyed playing with their niece Lolly one summer. Great people. Sorry to hear of Ida’s passing, but believe they are happily together again.

The Fredricksens were one of my favorite families!! Helen and I were such good friends. Ida was an inspiration in many ways. We always said only Ida could live on a ranch, drive a car with white interior and keep it clean! She and Ralph were a great couple. She will be missed.
Myron & Mary Beth Kibler says
Ida & Ralph are together again. They were very dear and treasured friends to my parents, Dick & Betty Chezum and I can imagine the happy reunion in heaven. I always thought and spoke of them as a team, the names just always had to be together. We had the honor of owning three of their registered thoroughbred horses when we were chariot racing. Ralph & Ida were the most beautiful people and my heros growing up. May they rest in peace and the memories we hold of them keep them close to our hearts forever.
