Command Sgt. Major James Jefrey Davis Sr. passed away in Miles City, MT on December 21, 2023. Known in Ringgold as Jef or Jimmy, he grew up on Tennessee street. A graduate from RHS, Jef was a man of many talents and curiosities. He was an excellent trumpet and piano player, a martial arts black belt, and held patents for inventions to promote gun safety. He spent time scuba diving and caving, seeing many places no one has seen before, including participating in the only underwater exploration of the Lost Sea. He founded Freedom Ammunition and the Georgia Gun Trader.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathrine Surerus Davis, biological children Jamie Davis Taylor (Robert) and James J. Davis Jr.; one sister, Nancy D. Miller; and grandchildren McKinsey Eaves, Noah Stephens; stepchildren Bonnie Phelps Moore (Robert), Brian Phelps, and grandsons Cameron Phelps and Christopher Warren.
