John R. Gibson, age 68, of Jordan passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at his home in Jordan.
John Gibson was born in Billings, Montana on October 1, 1948 to Dick and Hazel (Winters) Gibson. He attended schools all over Garfield and Petroleum County as his mother was a school teacher. He graduated in 1967 from GCDHS. He enlisted in the Navy in November of 1969. He served as a Seabee during the Vietnam War and was always proud of his service. After the Navy, John moved home to Blood Creek to help on the ranch. He then worked in Mosby at the jet fuel refinery. During this time, he met and married Margaret Gribble and to this union two children were born, Joanna and Judd. The family made their home in Jordan where John worked for the Garfield County road department and later started Gibson and Son Construction. John and Linda began a loving and enduring relationship in the Fall of 1995. As time moved on, so did they, enjoying their lives working, fishing and hunting or just boony bashing with friends. John and Linda decided to marry in 2007 and on December 23 they said their “I do’s” in front of loving and supportive family and friends.
John served on the Jordan Town Council and Jordan Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty years. He was an avid hunting and fishing enthusiast. He was also fond of having a few pulls of whisky.
John is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Joanna of Las Vegas, NV; son Judd (Heather) Gibson of Jordan; granddaughters Jenna, Julia, Jodi and Jaci; brothers Jim (Renee), Joe (Sandy) all of Jordan; a niece Brandy and three nephews: Berry, Jamie and Ty. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Danny and Henry.

Linda and family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Hoot will be missed by so many. Remember working with him when one of my first jobs was working on the county crew during the summer, was a gravel truck driver!! Hoot took my lunch box, removed all the food and promptly replaced all with horse apples! Was I ever surprised, and all he could do was laugh!! He reminded me of this for years and always with his wonderful grin and twinkle in his eye for the prank he had pulled!! Such a fun guy to work with. HE WILL BE MISSED. I pray that the Lord be with you and the family so that all the happy memories will replace the sadness of his being gone.
