Kelly Renee Buckingham passed away at her home Saturday, May 30, 2015 as a result of a seizure. She was 29 years old.
Kelly was born October 30, 1985 in Fort Morgan, Colo. She began Terry Schools in the second grade and immediately became involved with softball. During high school years she enjoyed volleyball as well. Following her 2004 graduation from Terry High School she moved to Miles City, where she began her 11 year career as a sales associate with the Miles City Star Printing and Supply Company. She thoroughly enjoyed her work and the people she worked alongside. Kelly was known by her customers for her warm smile, friendly greeting and diligent work.
Much of Kelly’s spare time was centered around supporting family sporting events. She especially enjoyed supporting her nieces and nephews in their athletic ventures. She was very proud of their accomplishments. Kelly was an avid Denver Broncos fan – something she shared with her family from grandparents to parents to brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles and even down to her nieces and nephews!
Kelly enjoyed family get-togethers. She especially enjoyed finding special gifts for each family member. Kelly is remembered for thinking of others during birthdays and special occasions. Although Kelly endured a lifelong illness that resulted in seizures, the kindness and care shown to Kelly from classmates, co-workers and employers eased many difficult moments. Their caring concern will always be remembered by her family.
Kelly is survived by her mother and father Bill and Susan Buckingham of Terry; brother Neil (Nicole) Buckingham of Billings; sister Leann (Waylon) Lantis of Terry; and nieces and nephews Tyler and Taylor Buckingham and Layne, Caitlin, Laiten and Caelon Lantis; and special aunts Carol Bramble and Diane Wehrer.

What a shock – beautiful “CalCan” as we used to call her. Our family has known her since she was just a little girl and our daughter babysat her. Her brothers and our son were on the baseball team that Jerry coached and she was always there watching them and giggling and having fun. She has been through so much in her life and it was always so wonderful to see her at the Star and see that great smile and get caught up with each others lives. Sending prayers to all her family – Susan, Jerry, Heather and Sean O’Daniel.

To Kelly and her family. First to Kelly, I’m going to miss you girl. You know how I went into the store to get away from my co-workers and go visit with you almost everyday, trying out every chair in the window till I found the right one. You would be right there and we’d talk. I was always trying to check on the market, but you talked to much for me to concentrate. Lol I looked for you today on my way out after work to tell ya goodbye. A habit I’ll have to break. R. I. P. To Kelly’s family, Kelly was a good and caring person behind that feisty personality. Always going a mile a minute whether it was in the store or shaking her booty as she did her paper route. She was one of the few people I knew that could wear flip-flops all year long. She will be missed.
Sharon Cline says
Kelly you were my adopted daughter. You drove me nuts with your endless questions, complaints and wanting everything right now, but that was you. I brought my free coffee ticket to give you, but you weren’t there. I will have a cup of coffee and remember you with fondness. The store will not be the same without you. To Kelly’s family just know she was loved not only by you but by so many others.

Deb Bickel says
I was so saddened to hear the news of Kelly’s passing. I had the great honor to work with Kelly the last couple of years. She had a laugh and smile that could penetrate. The first time I seen her run in flip/flops in snow above her ankles- I thought to myself she is feisty. She never walked anywhere it was at a fast speed where ever and whatever she did. I enjoyed my many visits with her and talking about the favorite team, Denver Broncos. I had finally met a person that really believed like me that they would go all the way. I once told her she would look great riding Thunder. Her reply, “Sure, Why not.” We will all miss you Kelly, the heavens just gained a brighter star. To Kelly’s family, may you find comfort in knowing that she was a truly blessed person. My heart goes out to all of you.

I have started this several times and every time it just isn’t right. What do you say to a family that has lost a beloved daughter, sister, aunt? Words convey so little when hearts feel so much. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers during this sad and difficult time.
Mary Snell says
My sympathies to you all. Kelly was such a great person, so full of life, and always a great help at the Star. Several years ago, she and I had a good visit about something we had in common. My son has struggled with seizures his whole life also and is Kelly’s age, so hearing about Kelly’s death sure hit home for me. As a parent of a child with seizures, my heart aches for you and I pray you will find comfort in the Lord by letting Him wrap his loving arms around you and help you through your grieving. Find comfort knowing that in heaven, Kelly will suffer no more from seizures…Amen! My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to you all.
Connie Muggli says
May I offer my most sincere condolences. Kelly was a delight always so helpful and fun to visit with as she helped me when I stopped in at the Star to find something. She always knew what I meant when I told her I needed a “thingy” to do something! God Bless her – she was a joy to know. I am so sorry for your loss.
Terri and Ray Schmidt says
We were so sorry to learn of Kelly’s passing. Kelly used to come through our coffee drive thru at Brewster’s every morning and was always so pleasant. She also always had that sweet smile on her face when we would go into the Star and was ready to help us find what we needed. It is always so sad when someone is taken so soon but she touched a lot of people in her short time here on earth. She will be missed by many and our hearts and sympathy go out to her family and friends.

John L and Debra Moore says
We were so saddened to hear of Kelly’s passing. She was probably the main reason I (John) did business at the Star. She was so full of energy and eager to be helpful. I would always walk in and say, “Hey, Kelly Girl,” and just last week, after years of doing this, I asked her if she knew why I called her Kelly Girl. Of course, she didn’t, so I explained that at one time Kelly Girl was a prominent temp agency that claimed to provide the most competent, courteous, and attractive help. She was all of that. Our deep condolences.
bonnie breitbach says

Please have hope in our loving heavenly Father. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” (Revelation 21:4) With our deepest sympathy be well.
Cyndi Burke says
I am truly shocked and saddened at Kelly’s passing. She was such a professional and efficient person, and always made me feel like I was the only customer in the Star office. I will miss her beautiful smile and helpful manner. May God’s love ease the pain of your loss.
Mary Catherine Dunphy says
My deepest sympathy to Kelly’s family. I knew her through her work at Miles City Star’s office supply section. She was always so pleasant and extremely helpful, efficient and patient. She was the kind of person who always gave it her best — going out of her way to find the exact product we needed at the law office where I worked. I am deeply saddened to learn of her death. I live in Arlington, Virginia now, and when I heard this sad news this morning, I cried and thought, maybe there is some truth in the saying, “the good die young.” God’s ways are a mystery but I’m so glad I knew Kelly. May she rest in God’s peace and love. The rest of us will continue with our earthly journey and carry her memory in our hearts.
Pat DeNardo says
I am so sorry about your loss. Kelly was a good friend & former co-worker that i will miss greatly as well. She has left a deap impression on my heart that will never dwindle. Always a fun & interesting person to hang around with.
Joe Whalen says
I am shocked and saddened to learn of Kelly’s death. Like many, I knew her through her role at the Star. She was energetic, athletic, quick to service, thorough and knew her inventory like a nursery rhyme. She had a bright future, I think, as a sales professional in a larger setting had she decided to pursue it. I have a black collie that reminded her of a dog in her past. She’d always slow down long enough to ask about her or pay kind attention when she was near, which endeared her to me even more.
Many thanks to her family for developing and sharing such a lovely young woman. You’re in my thoughts today.
Kayla Hietbrink says
I am Kelly’s cousin I’m really saddened to hear that Kelly passed away, I actually just found out almost 2 years later. No one bothered to contact us to let us know she passed. And I’m really upset that her brothers Kyle Hietbrink and Jason Hietbrink were not mentioned in this obituary. She also preceded in death by her mother Donna Smith(Hietbrink) and Rick Hietbrink and her brother Kyle. Please know that you are are in my thoughts but I thought I would clarify some things that were not mentioned.
