Lawrence William (Larry) Vetch, age 74, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Larry was born on August 30, 1940 to Peter and Katherine Vetch in Forsyth, Montana. He spent his first eight years in Linton, North Dakota then moved to Miles City where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School then attended seminary in Washington. He married Diana Goodson in 1964 and they had three children, Larry Michael, MaShelle and Christina. They later divorced. He married Jeanne Frison and gained Mary and Anne into his family. He worked for MDU first in gas service then as a lineman until he retired in 2000.
Larry’s delight in life was in hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling with his dear friends and family. Larry loved to visit and recount his adventures. He suffered several disabling illnesses in his last six years, but remained cheerful throughout and loved to have visitors. The family will be forever grateful for the friends and family members who made it possible for him to be cared for at home. His brother-in-law Syl Augustyn helped load him every time he needed to go to a doctor or hospital and checked on him many times each week. His friends who visited frequently cheered his life immensely.
Larry’s parents Peter and Katherine Vetch preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Jeanne; his children Larry (Terry) Vetch, Shelle (Brett) Barker and Tina (Kurt) Lambing, his step children: Mary (Nicki) Kysar-Rondini, Anne (Tito) Kysar-Rodriguez and his “borrowed kid” Kollette (Gary) Rightsell. He is also survived by his siblings Dave (Kay) Vetch, Winnie (Syl) Augustyn, Louie (Sue) Vetch, Virginia (Doug) Bennett and Bob (Diane) Vetch as well as twenty beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, February 15, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with a Vigil Service being held at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. R.I.P Larry. You were a great man and I am glad I got to know you and the years we got to bowl together I will never forget. Also the time we went on that fishing trip and never caught one fish but you swore up and down there was fish in that pond. Either way it was a fun trip and a great memory to have. See you on the other side Larry.
Richard & Linda Meidinger says
Larry was such a fun man to be around. We really appreciated him when he worked for us on the farm at Kinsey. Do remember one morning when he was coming to work he ran over a deer that someone had hit just before he got there and he was driving a car it sure didn’t do his car much good. He didnt’ think he was going to be able to get a semi truck up the big hill so thought he wanted to quit the job. Richard went with him one trip and he made it just fine so was pretty proud he was able to drive that semi after that. ha
So sad that he is gone but he had surely gone through some painful last years. Will miss him and his smile. Your in our thoughts and prayers. May your memories help you through this difficult time. May he rest in peach.

Jeanne and Family Had such a great time many years ago going hunting over by Ennis with Larry and Jack. Cant remember the year but we wrote it in the wall tent. Kind of neat, don’t think he went up that way hunting again, and all the times going to Hell Creek fishing . He was a good man and will be missed by all. God Bless you and your family
