Leo L. Farrar, age 74 of Broadus passed away on September 12, 2012 at the Powder River Manor with his family by his side after losing a battle with cancer that began in 1973.
Leo Lyle Farrar was born September 12, 1938 at Lewistown, MT to Albert Leo & Viola Faye (Howard) Farrar. He was educated in the Moore schools and graduated from Moore High School in 1956. In 1963 he married Marie Grant. They lived in Circle, Moore, Seeley Lake, Chester and Broadus, MT. Leo and Marie also lived in San Jose, California where he worked at various part time jobs until he went to work for Santa Clara County where he was employed until they made the move back to Montana. They also lived in Greybull and Meeteetse, WY, Leo worked at many jobs. He was never afraid to try something new. He worked as a custom harvester, as a driller, helped seismograph rigs, as a logger, a mechanic and as a truck driver. He truly was a “jack of all trades.” Leo loved to tinker on old projects and could fix anything. If he could not fix it you knew it was really broken. When not working on one of his projects, he was also an avid fisherman and hunter. He always loved spending time with his grandchildren camping and teaching them to fish. He also loved to dance with his wife Marie.
Leo is survived by his wife Marie of Broadus, two daughters: Theresa Farrar of Great Falls, MT and Donna (Tim) Gottsch of Bozeman, MT; 6 grandchildren: Matthew (Erica) Farrar, Talana (George) Melton, Emily Carlson, Kristina (Jacob) Dolan, Misti & Levi Gottsch and nine great grandchildren; his brothers Wayne of Malta, Ralph of Stevensville, Dale of Twin Creeks, MT & Vern of Moore, MT and one aunt Vesta Wichman of Lewistown, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, an infant brother and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus, MT. Doug & Tuffy Stewart says
Marie and family. Sorry to hear about Leo. We are glad his struggles are over and he is at peace in mind, soul and body. We have always cherished your friendship and the memories of seeing you guys in Seeley Lake and Missoula . We still talk about staying with you guys and waking up on a July 4th morning and there being a skiff of snow on the ground. That was hard for a Southeastern Montana boy to believe. Good old Seeley Lake weather. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family.
