Lorraine Mae Robinson, Buffalo Appearing Woman, born January 12th, 1932 in Lamed Deer, Montana to Fredrick (Buck) Brien and Margaret (Eastman) Brien. Lorraine peacefully passed on August 19th, 2022, surrounded by her family as the Morning Star appeared in the eastern sky.
Lorraine grew up in the Kirby and Busby communities with her brothers Myron and Leonard Brien, and Matthew Two Moons Sr. She attended Busby and Hardin schools. She grew up riding horses and fishing, which remained her favorite activities throughout her life. She loved being a Mother, Grandmother, and Auntie. Lorraine married James M. Robinson on November 6th, 1952. They raised horses and ran cattle. They later divorced and Lorraine continued to reside on the family ranch, turning operations over to her boys.
Over the years, Lorraine held employment on the Reservation serving as an employee at the Lame Deer School, BIA, Busby School, and eventually retiring from St. Labre School after 25 years of dedicated service. Mom served as a lay minister for the St. Labre Parish and was a charter member of the St. Labre Chapter of Tekakwitha. A highlight of which was seeing Pope John Paul. She was a super fan of St. Labre basketball, a fan of tennis, Tiger Woods, the Green Bay Packers, and loved her bingo at Charging Horse Casino.
Lorraine was honored and proud to be a Northern Cheyenne and she raised her family to believe and respect the Cheyenne way of life and traditions. She loved the horse culture, ceremony, pow-wow (watching Ernie gourd dance) and clown dance, and family gatherings. In raising her family, she adopted several along the way.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick (Buck) and Margaret Brien, brothers Myron and Leonard Brien, beloved daughter Cheryl Kay Booth, Grandsons Percy and Christian Robinson, her adopted son Earl Charette, sister in law, Juanita Lonebear; and special friend Leona Limberhand.
She is survived by her brother Matthew Two Moons Sr, Ernie (Mary Jane), Jimmy (Vicki), Tracy (Cynthia), Howard Ontiveros, her special girls Lynnelle Bixby and Jessica Booth, and special sisters-in-laws, Connie Brien, Carla Brien, and Priscilla Robinson, and many, many, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Thank you for all the love and support from our large extended family Alderman, Azure, Beartusk, Bixby, Booth, Bolson, Braine, Brien, Cain, Charette, Eastman, Freeman, Harris, Lafrainier, Lafever, Little Whirlwind, Parker, Pease, Pittman, Robinson, Small, Storm, Sherman, Spang, Two Moons, and Whitewolf.
We apologize if we have missed anyone, our families are large, and hearts are heavy.
A special thanks to the staff of Heritage Living Center, Lake View Assisted Care, and Lasting Legacy Senior Living for their kind loving attention, and making her days a lot less lonely.

They broke the mold when God made Aunt Lorraine, she was such a loving aunty and a fun person to be around, I remember she would always hug me and pinch my brown cheeks and kiss me on the forehead. She loved unconditionally and taught us many lessons in how to treat others and what was important in life. If she got after you it was because she wanted the best for you and hated to see you heading down the wrong road. I always loved seeing her and I will miss her very much. I wont say goodbye aunty I’ll just say when we meet again you better be ready to listen to all my stories and pinch my cheeks and kiss my forehead because i’m going to give you a great big hug. I Love You Aunty!
