Lyle Leonard Hirsch born May 10, 1941, passed away September 28, 2021, surrounded by his children from a cancerous brain tumor. The first-born son of Alfred and Eunice Hirsch, Lyle was born a happy and healthy baby. Unfortunately, at almost 4 months-old Lyle contracted encephalitis and was not expected to live past infancy. To everyone’s surprise, Lyle lived on to adulthood, but was permanently afflicted with a speech impediment and a permanent disability to the right side of his body. Lyle never let his disability slow him down.
Lyle was a wonder to everyone that he met. He always had a good story to tell and…His keen memory of dates and numbers amazed everyone. He worked in many areas: the oil fields, City of Miles City, Walker’s Trucking, road construction – it was while he was working road construction in Wyoming that he had another near-death experience following a serious car accident leaving him with two-broken legs and severe chest injuries. Once recovered, he moved to Hesperia, California working there at his sister, Charlotte’s jerky business until he retired.
Lyle married Bonnie Martin in 1964. To this union were born three beautiful children: Steven, Brenda, and Cheryl who coveted their father and whom he dearly loved. After they divorced, Lyle married Phyllis Traub Perkins and enjoyed his time helping with her 8 children. They divorced and he married Patricia Hefner. Lyle was fiercely loyal to his family and spent much of his retirement helping Patricia with her children, especially her son Paul after his head injury and her handicapped daughter, “Pammy” as Lyle referred to her. Following the death of his wife, Pat, Lyle moved to Chehalis, Washington, to be closer to his children.
Lyle is survived by his children, Steven (Sherry) Hirsch, sons-Beau and Bryce, Brenda (Bruce) Thompson, children – Thomas and Katelyn and Cheryl Kaiser, daughters – Kayla, Kari, and Krista; stepdaughters, Phyllis and Pamela; sister, Charlotte Erlenbusch; brothers, Dennis, Larry and Dale; uncle, Elmer Hirsch; aunts, Ruby Fields and Gertrude Fisher, a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Jack Campbell, Larry Parrent and Leonard Schaeffer.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts and uncles, his wife Patricia, stepson Paul, special friends Gary Patrick and Gene Patrick.
At Lyle’s request there will be no services and his ashes will be spread in the desert near his Hesperia home where “I can be warm forever”.
