Montie Rae Martelle passed away February 21, 2015 at the Billings Clinic after an extended illness. She was born the second of three children October 22, 1956 in Miles City, Montana to Merna Beeler Martelle and Robert M. Martelle.
She was raised in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School. After several years, she returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Montana State University. She worked in various medical facilities until health issues forced her into an early retirement.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Kaya Berges who lived with her, sons Jason Gaughan and family of Helena, MT, Ty (Rhenee) Lantta and family of Fort Walton Beach, FL, daughter Sari (Bob) Fisher and family of Fort Lee, VA, mother Merna Martelle of Miles City, MT, sister Tina (Arenie) Sticka of Billings, MT, niece Erin (Henry) Rodriguez and family of Billings, MT and brother Robert J. Martelle of Forsyth, MT.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert M. Martelle and daughter, Aubrey Rae Lantta.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. I wish to pass along my condolences to you and your families the early loss of your sister. What a shock it was to learn of her passing.
It has been well over 40 years since I last saw Montie. Back then she was a wonderful young lady and I was very proud to have her as a friend. I regret having lost track of her these many years, but am pleased to learn that she did very well in life.
For me Montie will be forever 15. How can I help but remember her fondly.
