Monty Pearl LeVay Fisher of Miles City formerly of Poplar passed away January 3, 2020 at the Billings Clinic at the age of 86.
Monty was born in Poplar, Montana on April 2, 1933 and resided there for most of her life until they retired, moving to Miles City in 2011. Monty married Russell James Fisher in August 17, 1957 in Poplar. This union spanned nearly 59 years with Jim’s passing in 2016. Three children, Ed, Bobby and Julie were born to this marriage. Monty devoted the majority of her life to being a farm wife and mother. She and Jim did everything together. With hard work and support of each other they operated the farm and ranch.
She was a Mom and Grandma in every meaning of the word with her nurturing, supporting, encouraging, teaching, comforting and caring ways, not only for her children and grandchildren but with any kid around. She loved them all. Monty was known for her cooking and baking as she had a special gift. If you ever stopped by the house for coffee or for a meal, you always had a cookie, cake or pie and you never left hungry. Grandkids have fond memories of picking chokecherries with Grandma so she could make them syrup for pancakes. If you ever needed help making something, you called Monty. She enjoyed good old country music and dancing; her and Jim missing very few. She also liked sewing, playing cards, rodeos, and watching Jeopardy. She was a strong woman with great faith who in times of others needs would put those before her own. She will be greatly missed.
Monty is survived by her children: Ed (Lynette), Bobby and Julie; grandchildren: Jake, Michael (Cara), and Shelby; great grandchildren Destiny, Jacob and Haylee.

My thoughts and prayers are with the three of you friends as you mourn the loss of your mother. She was such a wonderful and friendly person. My first memory of Monte goes back to when she was a waitress in Bill’s Bakery. I was only six or so years old and always looked forward to going to the Bakery with my dad and his friends because it gave me a chance to see Monte. She was always so very kind and always had a smile on her face. May she rest in Peace with Jim (Fish).

Monty and Fisher were both wonderful people. Because of them I had great years of parades and fun-frolics. They were always there encouraging and supporting any kind of horse riding event. My sympathy goes out to Ed, Julie and Bobby. Never forgotten, may they rest in peace.

I will always remember the kindness of Jim and Monty when I started my teaching career in Poplar. Monty was a great cook and made the best potatoe salad. They were sure nice people. My thoughts and prayers Julie , Bobby , and Ed.
