Pauline Oleta Stewart, who resided at Friendship Villa, went to be with her Lord on September 22, 2015.
She had traveled the world and seen many changes to it in her 100 years of life. Oleta was born to Clayborn and Pearl Stewart on November 19, 1914 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The fourth oldest of 12 living children, Oleta remembered a happy childhood. She described her father as a hard-working, loving parent and her mother as “a saint with all of us kids”.
She met her future husband, Major Chaplain George E. Mattocks in Oklahoma and shortly afterwards the couple was stationed overseas. While living at Tulin Air Force Base in Vienna, Austria, they had their son George. Twenty-two months later, daughter Susan was born while they were stationed in Indianapolis, Indiana. ‘The Chaplain’ passed away five years later while the family was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma. Oleta chose to remain in Enid, earning a living as a single parent, attending her children’s school functions and often telling them “I love you a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.” Ten years later, mutual friends introduced her to Alvin C. Geis, a divorced father of four adult children. Alvin and Oleta fell in love, married and decided to farm and ranch near Angela, Montana. A few years later, Alvin’s son Jim, wife Kay and daughter Ronda also moved to the Miles City area to farm and ranch.
Alvin and Oleta retired in 1991, moving to King City, Oregon, where Alvin eventually passed away in 2000. When daughter Susan chose to return to Miles City in 2003, Oleta jumped at the opportunity to also live once again in a community she and Alvin had loved.
Throughout her lifetime, Oleta enjoyed engaging with the world, socializing and staying active. She loved to hold babies, hug children and play with animals. Oleta skied, hunted and fished both in Europe and in later years, Montana. She made jewelry, played golf and was a strong swimmer. Always up for an adventure, she joined the girls skinny dipping in Kay’s pool, snowmobiled throughout Montana and golfed in local tournaments.
Oleta and Alvin loved spending evenings playing card games with family and friends, a regular pastime she continued the rest of her life.
Oleta is preceded in death by her husbands, Major Chaplain George E. Mattocks and Alvin C. Geis, sons; George Mattocks and Jim Geis. She is also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters along with many of their spouses. Oleta is survived by her daughters; Susan Mattocks and Kay Geis, granddaughter; Ronda (Dave)Worlie all of Miles City. Son George’s U.S. Marine Corp. buddy, Paul, became an integral part of Oleta’s life. Paul (Pam) Beaulieu and their extended family live in Minnesota. Oleta is also survived by her sisters; Hazel (Earl) Kesner of Oklahoma, Patsy Dean Sherman of Oregon, Patricia Ann Hudson of Texas and Barbara Jean Kottke of California, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Suz, Kay and families, I will remember many good times we had together. Especially when we had “the Sisters get to gathers”. One of the last ones drove Orville and Alvin out of the house and they went to sleep in our 5th wheel but it turned out Orville didn’t get much sleep as Alvin was known for his LOUD snoring :-(. God bless you Suzl for the loss of your precious Mother, my sister. She is now with her son, Alvin, Mom, Dad, 2 other sisters and 5 brothers. Patricia Ann Hudson

Oleta was a Kind and gentle soul that exhibited great strength, lots of laughter and humor, as well as a wealth of knowledge and faith. I will always value the times spent caring for her and all the conversations she and I shared. She not only taught me faith by example, but also through her words of God, as well as her testament of his prophecies. Her spirit and energy for life touched my heart from the first time I met her. I will cherish my time and memories of her. I am glad that her suffering is over, it broke my heart to see her in pain. I know she is in Heaven because she told me she was going there to be with her Lord, and she’s singing with the Angels now. I will always hear her in my heart and keep the warmth of her words and wisdom close to my heart.
