Phebe Josephine Stearns-Beeler, age 68, of Miles City, MT passed away on December 31, 2016 in Billings after a brief but heroic battle with leukemia.
Phebe was born on March 14, 1948, the oldest child of Asie and Elizabeth “Betty” Stearns in Beach, North Dakota. Due to her father’s work for the railroad the family moved often, eventually settling in Miles City. Phebe graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1966. She enrolled in cosmetology school where she would learn one of her passions. Phebe also greatly enjoyed creating incredible cakes, family gathering, racing shopping carts with her granddaughter Isabella, participating in church activities, camping and Billings shopping trips. On Christmas Eve in 1967, the love of her life, Wayne Beeler proposed with a ring he had crafted from a pop tab and welded on stone. They were together for 18 years when they were blessed with a daughter, Addibeth Edna. They were married on January 24, 1987. Phebe put her career on hold to care for Wayne after he had a heart attack three months later. She later worked as manager of St. Vincent DePaul where she greatly enjoyed interacting with people and assisting those in need. After Wayne’s passing in 2012, Phebe continued to assist and care for other members of the family in any way that she could. She truly dedicated her life to helping those that needed it. Her life of virtuous giving and passionate love had been a guiding light for us all.
Phebe is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Addibeth and Dean Hanvold Jr.; grandchildren: Jenn (Justin) Schaefer, Matt Hanvold and Isabella Hanvold; great grandchildren: Xaidyn and Amirra Schaefer; her mother Elizabeth “Betty” Stearns; sisters: Fay Lab, Phillis Morrow and June Tredway; a brother Clay Stearns; her beloved dog Teddy; step-daughter Audrey Beeler; step-son Wayne Beeler; numerous nieces, nephews, step-children, cousins and many friends. Phebe was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Beeler, father Asie Stearns; step-son Blake Beeler; Brother-in-law Monte Tredway Sr.; nephew, Justin Lab and a niece Valerie Tredway.

My condolences to the family. To loose a loved one in death is painful. To find comfort God has revealed to us in his word the bible that he will comfort us during times like this (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). Revelation 21:4 God promises to wipe the tears from our eyes, and death will be no more. What a wonderful promise , no more sickness, pain or sorrow, that will happen in the near future. May you find comfort from the promises made by God during this difficult time.

Dear family,
It’s hard to find the words that would bring comfort to you right now. We love Phebe and are missing her terribly right now. That is truly the hardest part. Learning to live without our loved one. That is where faith comes in, giving the reassurance that Phebe is with God, in a better place, watching over us. She was so full of love, spirit and fight.
