Quinn Jessen Sr, known affectionately as “Big Quinn” or “Papa Quinn” passed away peacefully in his own home on August 28, 2024, at the age of 70.
Born to Leah Currey and Henry Jessen on July 23, 1954, in Jordan MT.
Quinn grew up on the family ranch riding, roping, and wrestling everything he could. He graduated from Garfield County High School in 1972 and shortly after married his high school sweetheart Darlene Hinther (Root) in Bozeman MT.
Quinn and Darlene immediately started their family with the birth of their first son Orin “OJ” Jessen with three more boys, Dustin, Quinn JR, and Quade later completing their family. Quinn had many careers throughout his life, but he was most proud of his restaurant QD’s Cafe that he owned and operated in Jordan for over 20 years. The cafe became a gathering place for friends and family, reflecting his dedication to his community and his love for good food and friends.
Quinn was passionate about the outdoors and any time he could get away from the cafe he spent hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and most other activities outdoors with his family. He also enjoyed “hot rods”. He had various ones that he shared with his family, but he loved his prized 1965 GTO that you could often find him tinkering on or dragging main and spinning the tires at the annual parade.
Whether it was hunting big mule deer or chasing fat walleyes, Quinn cherished most the moments shared with his “four boys”, who were the center of his world and his proudest accomplishment.
In Quinn’s later years he was still “hooked”. Any chance he could get with his kids or grandkids, you could find him on the Yellowstone River, continuing his tradition of the great outdoors.
Preceded in death by his mother, Leah Cole Barclay, his father Henry Jessen, Step-Father Sandy Barclay, half-sister Cindy Jessen, stepsister Wanda Littleton.
Survived by is 4 sons Orin “OJ” Jessen, Dustin Jessen, Quinn Jessen JR, and Quade (Donna) Jessen. Stepmother Chrystal Jessen, brother Jed Jessen, stepsister Anita Pluhar, stepsister Sandra Barclay, 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
