Randy Allen Stubblefield, age 62, of Miles City passed away in a tragic fatal vehicle accident in the early morning hours of December 27, 2019 on his return trip from delivering the Gazette to Glendive, Montana.
Randy was born on June 29, 1957 to William “Stub” “Buck” Stubblefield and Nona Rose (Richards) Stubblefield at Belle Fourche, South Dakota. Randy’s early years from 1957-1966 were spent on the Cabin Creek Ranch at Ridgeway, Montana. In 1966 the ranch was sold, and the family moved to Miles City, Montana. Randy graduated high school and went to work on the oil rigs, after a couple years gave that up and went into trucking over the road as his dad did. He did this until 2001 when he was in a serious motorcycle wreck suffering physical and cognitive issues. After 2 years of recovery and rehab he was able to drive again but never to truck again over the road. Randy took as much part-time work as he could with Wacker Feeds trucking small truck hauls for them and also took a job under Bob Hickey hauling the Billings Gazette to Glendive and the Thrifty Nickle in Miles City. Randy lived with his dad at the Box Elder street address and continued there after his dad’s passing and up to the time of his own death.
Randy always loved being on the open road, driving, which was what he was doing at the time of his death. “Big R” as he was known in Miles City will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He had may special friends in Miles City, to many to write them all down. They know who they are.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family. Randy is survived by his paternal aunt Maxine “Macky” Stubblefield Wade, his step aunt Dorothy Cain, his maternal aunt Vera (Richards) Tauck and numerous cousins on both sides of his family. He is also survived by special friend of the family Dorothy Stephens and family from Great Falls, Montana. LaQueta “Lucky” Richards Grummons who has been guardian, POA since 2001. Lucky will miss him terrible. He said she was the sister he never had.

I remember Randy from shop class in 1971 or 2 at CCHS along with the shop teacher Mr. Blanks and so many others, decades ago. He helped me get through welding class. Mild mannered was he, especially helpful with cutting torch and welding tip, with patience and understanding… I had a tendency to set welding pressures WAY to high. Methodical was his gift & forte, it worked and I still remember his gentle help & the “B+” he helped me earn in welding class!!!!! Blessings to you all. Dave

When someone we love fall asleep in death the memories we have of them become our treasure. So take time to grieve and find comfort in knowing that God is near all those calling on Him. Psalms 145:18. My condolences to the family.
