Raymond Pine, Jr., Sesto to ke (Pine or Cedar), age 44, of Lame Deer, Mt. went home in very sacred way on August 12, 2018 in Birney, Mt. the sacrifice area. He told us that his father, Raymond Pine, Sr, Sundance Priest and grandfather, Daniel Pine, Hereditary Chief, Sweet Medicine Council of 44 were waiting for him at the Ma xehot aheeome, Sundance Lodge. Raymond was born on November 2, 1973, to Raymond Pine, Jr. and Pearl Three Legs at the Crow Agency Hospital. As a child, he attended the Headstart and Lame Deer School. And then, he moved to McLaughlin, South Dakota. He attended and graduated McLaughlin High School. Raymond continued his education and entered the Sitting Bull College at where he got an associated degree. He showed a strong interest in building homes and facilities, he worked for the Standing Rock Housing Authority for many years, Sioux Falls Construction Company were he fought for his rights as a Native American and competing outside the reservation. In his earlier years, he was a BIA firefighter. Raymond met the love of life, Valerie Redfish, there were blessed two children, Cheyenne Francis Pine and Raymond Pine III, whom he dearly loved each day. In 2009, his grandfather had passed on, he moved back to take care of the family home. His employment on the reservation includes Northern Cheyenne Housing Authority and Northern Cheyenne Utility Commission. He became the project foreman for Chamber of Commerce Building and project manager for the Utility Commission. He worked tirelessly until the building was completed. He helped build the tiny homes and the Utility Commission Building. Raymond was always willing to help someone who needed plumbing and home repairs. He was a very intelligent, artistic, and creative. He expressed his love through designing memorial crosses and wooden wall plaques with the morning star symbol. Raymond was a forgiving person who shared his talent and gifts to friends and family. He was able to defeat his long struggle with alcohol, he was a single parent. He was proud to be a sober father. Survivors include his soul mate, Valerie Redfish, his children, Cheyenne Francis Pine and Raymond Pine III; his mother, Pearl Three Legs of South Dakota; his sisters, Florence Pine, Elizabeth Pine both of WY. Ivory and Misty, both of South Dakota and brother, Ian Daniel Pine of WY, Marcel Taken Alive and Kevin Bear Ribs; his aunts, Anna Mae Ryan and Holda Roundstone; and his uncle, Chief Leroy Pine, Sr. Survived by brother is the Cheyenne Way: Flint, Harlan, Chey Roundstone, Vann,Jr., Paul, Quentin, and Brent Ryan, John Gustad, Seidel, Lee Davis Pine, Lyndon Blackbird, and Miko Brady; Sisters in the Cheyenne Way, Claudine Littlebird, Vanessa, Gaylene Ryan and Rochelle Roundstone.
He was preceded in death his father, Raymond Pine, Sr and uncle Perry Lee Pine, his brother, Ivan Pine, His grandparents, Daniel Pine and Florence Redneck Pine; sisters, Carolyn Roundstone and Julia Ryan; Aunts, Freda DeRockbraine and Victoria Crisp.
