Robert H Schulze, Jr. passed away March 9, 2023. 87 years old. The only son of Robert and “Betty” Schulze immigrants from Germany. Bob retired from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1988. He spent over 25 years retired, living busy and self-sufficient at his home near Hysham, MT. He cared for his mother over 10 years until her death.
Bob was named Good Citizen of the Year -2002, by the Hysham Chamber of Commerce.
Schulze, Jr. legacy lives-on through his artwork! Life-sized (concrete media) statues are highlights in town of Hysham; including a big buffalo, and Lewis and Clark with Sacagawea & child Pompeii, on grounds of Yucca Theatre. He created statues of a Lion at the town park and Hysham High School pirate mascots. Outside Bob’s home are more Schulze-created life-sized statues: A huge T-Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops; a brown bear, long horn steer, and numerous other concrete statues.
This man was a huge fan of the cinema industry! A collector of posters and memorabilia about his favorite actors/actresses, and MOVIES! While member of Treasure County Museum Board, Bob with his friends restored the movie screen, back wall & stage, for movie nights at YUCCA Theatre, Hysham, MT!
More of Bob Schulze’s own artwork portfolio includes oil painting portraits of famous people in history, native American chiefs, and wildlife scenes of deer, buffalo, and mountain goats. Bob collected Indian artifacts and native bronze sculptures. Bob took pride in novels he wrote too. They reflected characters doing adventures and experiences of his life. Crazy humor.
Schulze, Jr. was born in Connecticut, USA, The small family moved to Colorado. Bob served in the United States Air Force, then earned Bachelor degree 1961 at University of Denver, CO. He continued education at Colorado State Patrol School; took Bureau of Drug Abuse Control Training; did Defense Investigative Training, got a State of Colorado Detective License; and even did Naval Intelligence Training. Robert H. Schulze, Jr. became Special Agent of the FBI and traveled the USA on assignments.
Bob Schulze married once during his midlife. His bride, Carol, died of cancer during the first year of their life together.
Bob moved to Billings, MT on assignment at the end of his career. He built a house at Shepherd, MT. By the late 1990’s Bob was fully retired. He and his mother moved to Hysham area. Bob’s friends in Hysham became his family. The man liked humor. He kept in touch with his work colleague/friends; and liked sharing letters to the editor, of Billings Gazette and Hysham Echo, about issues of concern.
Dogs were Bobs special pleasure. Animal advocacy was another passion in his life. This gentleman lived more reclusive his later years, taking care of his dogs, and fed the wild birds.
Robert H. Schulze, Jr. lived a full life, mostly as a bachelor with a good career; helped his parents, loved animals; and was very generous (& funny) to his friends. We pray he accepted the Lord into his heart and soul. A private memorial will be held later in the year.

I can vouch for Bob’s love of movies. We always enjoyed seeing him come to the Roxy. He would come to movies you would never expect an 80-year-old guy to attend, but he loved them all! We will miss his sense of humor and his good nature. Truly a cool guy.

God bless you Bob, it was an honor to have known and worked with you. You certainly added color to what could be called a dull old governmental organization. 😉
