Shad Duane Schaak, 23, left us too soon on June 7, 2018 in his hometown of Hysham, Montana.
Shad was born on October 14, 1994 in Billings, Montana to his Mother, Amber Icopini and Father, Matthew Schaak. Shad grew up in Hysham where he lived most of his life. Shad loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was the big brother to Taylor Schaak, the light in his big brown eyes. He was also very close to his cousins, his mom, and his Grandma Judy.
Shad was a recognized athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball, and especially football. He had a smile and laugh that were contagious and a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Shad enjoyed riding, racing, and jumping his dirt bike, camping, snowboarding, swimming, and so much more. He had a soft spot for dogs and loved the Philadelphia Eagles. Shad was very gifted as he was able to achieve anything he put his mind to.
Shad cared so deeply for his family, wanting to spend every second with his parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends. A perfect day for him was one spent in the warm weather with all his closest friends and family enjoying the peace.
Shad is survived by his parents, Amber (Dale) Icopini and Matthew (Shelli) Schaak; his sister, Taylor Schaak; best friends, Luke VanHaele; step siblings, Eric Icopini, Nicholas (Tara) Icopini, and Matthew (Jenna) Icopini, Aryn Thrower, Brooke and Gabriel Eves; grandparents, Gary Barnes, Jim and Richelle DeCock, Slim and Judy Schaak. He will be lovingly remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephew, and friends as well.
Shad is preceded in death by best friend, Dillon Welch.
The family suggests that memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society or to Help for Homeless Pets in Billings, Montana.
“God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”</p>

To the families of Shad, Words never are able to say enough of what we are trying to feel for you. My prayer is that God may be able to give you the comfort that only He can provide at this time. If only hugs could tell you just how very sorry we are that you must endure this pain at this time we would supply lots of them for all of you. But we are praying for God’s peace and comfort for your families.
