Shane “Suga” Larry Shotgunn, V’oaxaa’e N’estoohe “Whistling Eagle”, from the Suh’tai people, was born on August 29, 1981. Same birthday as his idol, Michael Jackson. Shane passed made his Journey to the other side of the Camp December 14, 2019. Shane was born on August 29, 1981 to Lawrence Shotgunn, Jr. and Arlene Fisher Rogers. Shane was a member of the Native American Church. Shane was born in Crow Agency, MT. he grew up in Lame Deer, MT at the Deep West Side. He was the first class of 2000 to graduate at the new Lame Deer High School, home of the Morning Stars. Shane’s main passion was dancing and a D.J. Shane D.J.’d for proms, weddings, receptions and various powwows. He also helped with his uncle Waylon’s bouncy house and shaved ice business. He was a member of the Native Reign dance group as Choreographer. Traveling to New York, Los Angeles, and the Bahama’s, performing for young American Youth. Suga Shane was know by many for his dance moves and could dance to any kind of music in a heartbeat. Giving special shout out to Christian Parish, AKA “Supa Man” and Dylan Jefferson in participating in various talent shows with Shane performing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. Shane participated in high school bands for St. Labre Braves and Lame Deer Morning Stars as a piano/synthesizer player. He attended schools at Colstrip, St. Labre and Lame Deer. Shane was employed in his teen years as tech assistance for I.H.S. Pharmacy. Later would work as a teacher for the NC Head Start Program. Also, the Lame Deer Public Schools as a paraprofessional. He was known for his good humor, outgoing personality and making friends with anybody. Shane participated in Traditional Guard dancing, grass dancing, and clown dancing. Where he won at various pow wows. Shane met Annie Shaver in 2005 and had his fist daughter born on October 4, 2006, Shayla Marion Rose Shotgunn of Billings, MT. they later separated. Shane met Marty Ewing and had his second daughter, Karmyn Malia Shotgunn on January 8, 2010 of Lame Deer, MT. Shane then met Brandy Phelan, had his third daughter born on October 5, 2017, Preslei Shayne Shotgunn of Mandaree, North Dakota.
Shane is survived by his children: Shayla, Karmyn, and Preslei; mother, Arlene Fisher Rogers; sisters: Monique (Sheena) Shotgunn of Billings, MT., Danielle Shotgunn, Shireesa (Fred) Bryant of Lame Deer; nieces: Danielle Dawnta’e Shotgunn (Whom Shane helped and raised as his own), and Camille Lynn Mann; grandparents: Betty Rogers of Ashland, MT., Lloyd Littlebird, Sr., Linda Two Two, Eva Bearchum, Wayne and Roseann Headswift, Wilmer and Erma Spang, Dudley Fisher all of Lame Deer, MT., Jason Whiteman, Geofredo (Tweety) Littlebird, Sr., Leo (Skeeter) Conner, Gaylon Gondora, Clarice Walksalong, Melissa Littlebird Whitewolf, Rogene, Charlotte and Ardena Whiteman; uncles: Lonnie Littlebird, Waylon Rogers, Steven (Crystal) Carrell, John Glenmore, Robert Shotgunn, Conrad Fisher, Lloyd Littlebird, Jr., Justin Littlebird, Dorek Littlebird, Willis, Larry, Burt, Jr., Kenny Medicinebull, Ryan and Essence Kaline; aunts: Lee Ann (Jay) Rogers, Marilyn Rogers Crow Eagle, MaryAnn Weaselbear, Colleen Medicine Eagle, Loylene Littlebird, Rynalea Whiteman Pena, and Mariah Maxwell Hawley. Shane is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence “Larry” Shotgunn, Jr.; aunts, Kim Rogers, Ramona Shotgunn, and Theresa Brady; uncles, Mark Shotgunn, Gerald Walksnice, Jr., and Francis Shotgunn II; cousin, Matthew “Bullmatt” Shotgunn, Larald Littlebird, Sr., Larold Littlebird, Jr., Laro Littlebird, Rueben Cole Littlebird, Toni Fisher, and Roseann Fisher; grandparents, Lawrence Shotgunn, Sr. Elva Medicinebull, Jasper Redhat, Mary Fisher, Julia Walkslast, Henry Fisher, Burton Fisher, Sr., George Fisher, Vance Littlebird, Jimmy Walkslast and Clarence Rogers, John Sr., and Regina Whiteman, Larena Rowland, Leola Whiteman, John Whiteman, JR., and James Littlebird.
