Our beautiful daughter, niece, granddaughter, aunt and friend, Shelrae “Marbles” Rose Limpy, was born on October 6, 2004 to Luanna Fox and Sheldon Whiteshield at Crow Agency MT. Her Cheyenne name was “Earth Woman” Ho’evohta’e after her grandmother Winona Tangledyellowhair-Fox after she was born. When she was a toddler, she was baptized Catholic, her Godparents were Crystalynn Shoulderblade and Isaac Washington. Shelrae lived in Ashland MT. She attended preschool at the age of two and her education carried onto college, she enjoyed her time at St Labre, Busby and Ashland Public schools. Shelrae understood how important education was in life, she was always on honor roll. She graduated from St Labre in 2022 as class President, student council president and dorm council president, where she loved the dorm life atmosphere. She received the Deans scholarship from Rocky Mountain College where she attended one year and then went on to the University of Montana for one year, she was currently a student at Chief Dull Knife College where she would have graduated May 2024 where she was involved in the first STEM Internship at the Tongue River reservoir. Shelrae was involved in basketball and volleyball through out her school years, winning many trophies and awards, mostly recently she was a member of the CDKC womens basketball team that won the National AIHEC championship. She loved pow wows and dancing, when she was younger she was a traditional dancer. Her dance outfit was burned in a house fire and the Kim Knobloch family gifted her with an entire dance outfit. Shelrae’s grandmother Nellie Whiteshield initiated her and her brothers into the dancing circle. She looked forward to the Ashland Labor Day pow wow every year, helping where ever her grandparents needed. Family will remember her for her famous macaroni and potato salad, her home-made baked cookies and her jello creations. Shelrae was such a caring and loving person, she did not hesitate to step up and care for her grandmother when she was ill, taking on all the roles as a care giver and mother to her siblings. She was always there for her grandparents in anything they needed. Among her friends, she was known for being very caring, outgoing, organized and out-spoken. Shelrae was always smiling and uplifting those around her, bringing friends together. Her hobbies also included Native American arts, crafts and painting. Her bond with her niece, Regina LaRae Limpy, was always of upmost importance to Shelrae. She was loved and cherished by so many friends that she had met along her short life’s journey, they all made an impression that she lived for. Shelrae’s favorite quote was “A nation is not conquered until the hearts of the women are on the ground.” Cheyenne Proverb
