Tay’shawn Marv Whiteman, “TaMarv”, age 6, of Lame Deer passed away at his home of natural causes on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Tay’shawn was born to Violet Whiteman and Dana Delin Sungoesslow on December 19, 2008. His Cheyenne name, Hé’heetovánovetanó (Roughneck), was given to him by his great-grandpa Frank Whiteman, Sr., who named him after his great-grandpa John Whiteman, Sr.
He loved to ride horses and attend school. He also liked to play with his cars, siblings, and Auntie Arissa. Tay’shawn loved to help and give big hugs to his mother. He really thought a lot about his father Dana Delin Sungoesslow and always wanted to go and ride horses. His adopted parents were Julia Faye Whiteman and Larry “Rabbit” Highwalker.
He enjoyed attending church in Busby at the Assembly of God Church. Singing Pow-Wow songs and attending Pow-Wow’s with his dad were some of his favorite things to do. He knew that when his grandpa Frank was coming, a gift was on its way, usually a car to play with.
Tay’shawn was a vibrant little boy who loved going to school. In his short time here with us, he attended Cando Head Start and loved riding the bus with his grandma, Rennie, as his bus driver. He graduated from Cando Head Start in May 2014. He really enjoyed his cooker/Grandma Brenda Timber and teacher Dolly Sandcrane. He was currently in Kindergarten at Lame Deer Public School. His teacher was Alice Charles.
Tay’shawn also loved to play hand games and was teaching his little brother Zayden how to sing. He would get a bucket and 2 sticks and have Zayden sit down and drum while he would sing. Tay’shawn was spoiled by his daddy and grandma Justine, who often took him places.
Tay’shawn is in heaven with his great-grandpa’s Frank Whiteman, Sr., and Clyde Dust, Sr.; great-grandma’s Victoria Wounded and Amy Redstar; grandma’s Anita and Julia Faye Whiteman; grandpa Franklin Whiteman, Sr.; Vicki Dust, Edna Dust, Dorothy Sungoesslow, Kenneth Sungoesslow, and Dallas Dust, Sr.
