Teresa Crazy Mule was born in Birney Montana to Mary Red Beads and Tom Old Bull on October 15, 1935. She grew up riding horses and living close to nature with her family. Teresa is called a chiefs daughter. Her true name is Eh he: Woman spirit of the river.
Teresa had a long and full life on Northern Cheyenne tribal land. She worked in the kitchen of the Saint Labre school and retired there. Teresa was a mother, auntie and grandmother to many children. She loved them all!
Teresa and her late husband James Crazy Mule raised their granddaughter Hazel Killsnight and during challenging times helped to raise her children. It gave Teresa great joy and sense of purpose to have her kids close to her.
Teresa had a beautiful outlook on life and a great sense of humor. One thing she will always be remembered for is her delicious breads she sold in Lame Deer. She is loved by many and will be very much missed!
Teresa is survived by her children; Burton Fisher Jr, Conrad Fisher, Marianne Whitegrass, Dennis Carter. Teresa’s grandchildren are Hazel Killsnight, Tawny Fisher-Jones, Sasha Fisher, Blair Fisher, Brent Fisher, Roman Fisher, Shaylyn Blackburn and Xavier Bishop. her great grandchildren: Montana Burns, Shania Burns, Shakira Burns, Edna Burns, Annie Burns, Ajani Jones, Kayin Jones, Nahjei Jones, Baano Jones, Adonyai Jones (she is with Teresa across the Milky Way), Blair Jr. Fisher, Vannon Fisher, Keilani Fisher, and Latham Ray. The unnamed grandchildren are not forgotten! (the author just doesn’t know them at this time) She has one great great granddaughter Ariya Burns

Aunt Theresa will always be remembered for her tasty cooking, and especially her homemade “Birney style” oven bread * biscuits, which was one of a kind that we will never forget. Her perfect Cheyenne dialect will always be remembered, also. one of the last frequent Cheyenne language speaker. One strong woman, that represents “A nation is not conquered until the heart’s of its women are on the ground. Then it is done, no matter how brave its warriors or how strong its weapons” -Cheyenne Proverb.Theresa always got back up no matter what in her life time. Her strength in her life keeps us going, and she had demonstrated how strong we can be for Tsehesehe’e and So’taee. Thanks for all the kind words for aunt Theresa. Adeline Fox
