Our Beloved Dad, Husband, Papa, Brother, and Uncle Tyrone Lee Bearchum Sr. “Haeohe ‘ hame”(Fast Horse) was born on January 30th, 1970 to Herbert Bearchum Sr. and Marie A. Fighting Bear on January 30, 1970. Maheo welcomed him home the night of September 14, 2021 after having a wonderful day with his family by his side. He attended elementary school and Jr. High at Lame Deer Public School. He attended Colstrip High school for two years and then joined his brother, at Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR. He excelled in basketball, football, and track. He qualified and placed at the State Track meet for both Montana and Oregon in the 800m run. He graduated from Chemawa in 1989 with his brother Rocky. He followed his military roots and enlisted in the Navy (1989-1993) where he became a member of the Seabees, the Naval Construction Battalion. He was honored by the Cheyenne people with a Cheyenne Victory Dance when he returned from the (Gulf War). He served the Navy for 4 years. Before he became a father he loved being an uncle to his nephews and nieces. The love he had for them was very evident when they came to visit him. .
After getting out of the Navy, Tyrone met the love of his life, Sonja Rae Headswift, in May of 1993 at the age of 23 and took summer classes together with her at Chief Dull Knife college in Lamedeer, MT. They dated for four years and during that time he worked many jobs which included cheyenne depot clerk, BIA janitor, several BIA maintenance positions on the Northern Cheyenne and Crow Reservations. He was also part of the Navy Reserve in Billings, MT during this time once every month. Later on the two married each other on August 27th, 1996. Soon after in the following year, they had their first child together, Valarie Courtney Bearchum on April 9th, 1997. Then their first born son the year later in August of 98’, Byron Colton Bearchum. They moved to the BIA housing.for five years. Stayed in a few houses within those years as they grew. Later Tyrone Lee Bearchum Jr. was born to the family, June 20th of 2003. Tyrone’s wife Sonja Headswift was then pregnant with their 4th child, Shaelee Rae Bearchum on July 28th, 2007. At this time he and his family had been living on his fathers land, Hubert Bearchum Sr. “Happy Herb”, since the summer of 2006. They continued to reside on his fathers land or as his father called it “The High Chaperal” for many years to come to this day. Throughout his wife’s and children’s lives he loved to go on trips with them to billings while spending lots of nights up there in hotels and watching movies and spoiling all of them with many things like clothes, games, the latest gaming consoles, ipods, phones, toys, and more. In March of 2018, near the end of his life, he was blessed with a beautiful and sweet baby grandson, Kyzar Benjamin Redwing, by his loving daughter (Valarie) and supportive son in law (Lane Redwing). He was also hoping to see his soon to be born grandson, Sibrand CourtonLee Bearchum, and to watch his youngest son Tyrone Lee Bearchum Jr. graduate in the spring these next coming months. Tyrone will be missed very deeply by his kids, grandkids, wife, sisters, and all those who were privileged enough to have called him friend.
