William Malvin Muri, age 98, of Miles City formerly of Rosebud passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.
William was born March 24, 1916 to R.P. and Nellie Muri. He was the first of nine children. He married Virginia Reed on 12/13/41 and they were married for 71 years before Virginia passed away in 2013.
Bill was an avid sportsman even though he had an artificial leg from the age of 4. He especially enjoyed bowling, fishing and his favorite, golf which he did until he was in his early 90’s. Bill worked until his early 90’s selling real estate. He went to his office every day. He built the house where the family was raised in the early 1950’s and lived there until 2010 when Virginia’s health failed and she was unable to live in the country any more without help. They moved to Miles City and there they lived until their deaths.
Bill is survived by his son Wayne, daughter LeeAnn (Clyde), four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren; sister Marie, brothers Buck and Karl, sisters-in-law Jean, Dannie, Anita, Joyce and brother-in-law Bill Leischner. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, brothers Jim (Alice), Bob, Andy (Lorraine) and Pete, a sister Anna Mae and brother-in-law Chuck Ansoms.
Bill was healthy and still had a sharp mind until the last several weeks before he passed away. He enjoyed reading and talking about his life growing up. He wrote a small auto-biography about himself that touches on things that were important to him. One of his favorite sayings when any of us would ask him where he was going was “straight up”. Well, we think this time he got it right–he really did go “straight up’.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Forsyth Cemetery in Forsyth. A luncheon will follow at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

I am so very sorry to hear the sad news. With my Dad’s passing, I often think of Dad and Bill golfing, visiting at the real estate office and their long everlasting friendship for a lifetime. Bill will be very missed by many. May you share many family memories now and the days to come as you walk the path of healing.

We are so sorry of Bill’s passing. He and I were neighbors on main street in Forsyth sharing the same building where he sold real estate and I had the beauty shop. One day I told him his africa violets had too much light under his grow lights that they were growing straight up. He replied ” Just the way I like them”. He told me my plants looked good and I replied telling him they had the best fertilizers being filtered thru the walls from his place to mine. Always had a come back..said wondered why his plants hadn’t died from the “fertilizer” coming from my shop. Love that Guy! Heaven has another angel for sure!

Bill was a great guy, always pleasant and had a wonderful sense of humor. I especially admired his determination on the golf course, just one of the guys having a good time. I’m sure he did go “straight up”.

Bill was a wonderful friend and neighbor. He always met you with a smile and a firm handshake. We enjoyed getting apples at their place. Our kids enjoyed climbing on the trees to get the apples! It was also fun to sit by him at a basketball game. He really enjoyed the sport and gave credit to both teams. God Bless You.

Bill was one of those SPECIAL people that always had a smile, kind word and was truly sincere. We have known him for years, bought insurance from him many years back. He treated you as a friend instead of a customer, he was like the rest of his family, all of them are people to be proud to know, and call a friend

My sincere condolences to the family of William Malvin Muri – I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in many beautiful memories of Mr. Muri. We find comfort in Jesus’ words in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 where we are promised a resurrection of dear family members and friends that we have lost. I hope that you are comforted by the many wonderful Bible promises (John 17:3).
